I would give High XII a hundred stars if I could! They are simply the best. The entire crew is always friendly, kind, and gets your order out quick. My coworker stop by in the morning for breakfast burritos all the time and always leave with a huge smile. The ladies take very good care of us. The restaurant is always clean and the salad bar is incredible. Go support!! We will be back :)

Clean, good service and good food, fast, relatively friendly, well run. Eat very often there, and service and food are always good.

I was craving a breakfast burrito (don't know why) and came onto Yelp looking for a place that was quick, delicious and reasonably priced. I've been in this area lots of times and never noticed this place. The place is clean, spacious and airy and the service is fast. The burrito was the perfect size, large enough to be filling but not so large that you'd have to save half for another day. I got the vegetarian option, which was a perfect blend of eggs, seasoned potatoes, avo, pico and cheese. It really hit the spot. Apparently, based on the catering orders and foot traffic, this is a really popular place for people who work in the area. Delish. Loved it and will be coming back for more!

High XII Cafe & Coffee is a rock that supports many hungry souls in search of delicious breakfast and lunch options at a very reasonable price. Always greeted with a personal recognition, this cafe's employees are steady, ready, and quick to get you great food, a "how are you?" and service in a timely manner. Only have a few minutes to grab food and get to the next meeting? Give them a call and they'll have you in and out. I was really impressed with their breakfast burritos they catered to my office. I can't tell you how many times they have saved me from eating only a bag of chips before a string of meetings. - kombucha guy :-)

The other day, I stopped by this cafe just before lunchtime and grabbed a Hot Pastrami sandwich to-go. The folks behind the counter worked quick to get my order ready, and I was on my way. At first I thought they didn't put enough pastrami in my sandwich. Then I realized I asked for "everything" like lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickles, onion and avocado. Great presentation, and they added a little side salad. That sandwich was SO loaded, I saved half for later. Great sandwich! This place has a great location in Oakland City Center. It's on 11th street, between Broadway and Franklin. It's within a block of three major hotels- The Marriott, Marriott Courtyard, and Hampton Inn. It's across the street from the Trans-Pacific Centre. Also, it's near BART and major bus stops. That's why I think the prices are reasonable for downtown.

We went to this cafe on a Friday around noon for lunch. It's located right next to the Bart station and the Marriott. The place had a few customers, which was good because we were a large group. They have a great selection of food at very reasonable prices for downtown Oakland where everything seems to be marked up. The menu ranges from wraps to sandwiches to paninis. They also have a breakfast menu, and, of course, coffee. The decor is cute. The service is quick and the staff is so nice (customer service is a big one for me!). I can definitely seeing myself coming back often.

*** High XII Cafe & Coffee is back OPEN *** as of Monday, June 8th. Sadly, it's been closed due to the pandemic since March and then another couple of weeks due to the rioting/vandalizing/looting in Downtown Oakland. Senseless and definitely sad for small business trying to survive. I know everyone is on edge at this time, but High XII owner, Abby and staff, Jose and Leti (my apologies for not knowing the others) are wonderful, welcoming, friendly and help to start off your morning! Everyone there I might add, is doing a great job at following CDC recommendations: face masks, gloves, markings on the floor for social distancing, touchless payment, plexi, plastic drape to protect the food, employees and the customers while being ever so friendly and respectful... Definitely adding that extra star to this review! High XII Cafe has limited their hours (Mon-Fri, 8am - 1:30pm) and menu to a few breakfast items (some Starter Bakery goodies), Verve coffee with sandwiches and salad until they get back on their feet. This place is nothing fancy but great to grab a pastry and quick bite after getting off 12th Street BART station, with a short walk around the corner onto 11th. Show this business some love and support by stopping by, grabbing a bite (tip: the salmon and kale salad lunch is the best!) and making a small donation/tip for this business and hardworking staff! Pay it forward! :)

** The following review reflects my experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** Surely I can't be the only one confused by the name of this little cafe. It's called High 12 even though it's on 11th. Guess it doesn't matter much since the customers work in and around the office building it's in. I just happened upon it as I was waiting for my dental appointment. The owner was quite industrious as he was serving a robust breakfast menu by himself. I just went for the $2.50 Cafe au Lait, and that was just fine. COFFEE - 4 stars...he managed to keep it warm without burning it, no small feat for a one-man operation AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...fairly generic but clean SERVICE - 4 stars...he works hard for the money TOTAL - 4 stars...c'mon, how 'bout High 11?
